Dashboard & Tasks

Your home base for series overview, task management, and quick navigation.

Series Dashboard

The Dashboard is your landing page after logging in. It provides a high-level view of your entire workspace.

Quick Stats

Four stat cards at the top give you an instant overview:

Card What it shows
Series Total number of series you belong to
Characters Total characters across all series
Open Tasks Count of tasks not marked as done
Analytics Quick link to the Analytics page

Click any card to navigate to the relevant section.

Series Grid

Your series are displayed as cards showing:

  • Series name (key)
  • Description
  • Click to open the series detail page

Below the series grid, a sidebar panel has two tabs:

Tasks Tab

  • Shows your open tasks (not marked as done) across all series
  • Each task shows: title, due date (if set), and status badge (WIP, pending, etc.)
  • Click any task to navigate to the Timeline
  • If you have more than 10 open tasks, a “View all” link appears

Recent Pages Tab

  • Shows up to 5 most recently updated pages
  • Each page shows: title or page number, last updated date, and status badge
  • Click any page to open it in the Page Editor

Upcoming Deadlines

If you have tasks with due dates in the future, they appear in the Upcoming Deadlines card below the sidebar, sorted by due date.

Creating a New Series

Click Create New Series in the header to open the creation modal. Enter a key and optional description to get started.

Task Management

Tasks are the building blocks of your production workflow. They can exist at multiple levels:

  • Global tasks — Visible on the Dashboard and Timeline
  • Project tasks — Associated with a specific project
  • Auto-created weekly tasks — The system can create recurring weekly tasks to keep your momentum going

Creating a Task

  1. From any task list, click Add Task or the + button
  2. In the Create Task modal, fill in:
    • Title — What needs to be done
    • Description — Optional details
    • Due date — When the task should be completed
    • Task type — Production, Character Arc, Narrative Beat, or Table Read
  3. Click Create

Task Statuses

Tasks track through simple statuses:

Status Meaning
Pending Not yet started
In Progress Currently being worked on
Done Completed

Status is shown as a badge and influences how tasks appear on the Timeline and Dashboard.

Task Types

Task types determine how items appear on the Timeline:

  • Production — General production work (grey icon)
  • Character Arc — Character development milestones (dark icon)
  • Narrative Beat — Key story events (orange icon)
  • Table Read — Table read sessions (grey icon)

Auto-Weekly Tasks

The Dashboard automatically creates weekly task scaffolding to help you maintain a writing rhythm. These appear in your task list and timeline.
